Story: Faraja Thompson

I assembled the Copyright and Censorship LiveBinder because my Television Production students were having a difficult time understanding the importance of observing copyright law. Many believed it was okay to include any music from iTunes and images from Google searches to enhance their TV programs, despite my various approaches and explanations. This LiveBinder speaks for itself, through carefully selected content that is especially engaging to a middle school audience. Now my students learn, first hand, the relevance of copyright and censorship to their work.

The binder tabs are organized by color, so that students can browse content according to learning style. Since using this binder, I have noticed more of my students taking copyright law into consideration during the editing process. I even overhear students reminding each other to observe the law.

The Public Domain and Creative Commons LiveBinder offers my students many options for using permitted audiovisual resources and ideas for creating original content.
