Essentials in Digital Teaching and Learning
Abstract from: Educational Tecnology in the 21st Century Classroom by Eugene Tiscornia.
Technology in the 21st century has impacted the way we teach, communicate and interact with one another. However, nowhere is this more prevalent then inside the classroom. Technology in the 21st century has changed our preconceived ideas of what it means and takes to be an effective teacher. In this paper, Educational Technology in the 21st Century Classroom, I discuss my ideas of what I believe makes a teacher effective, which includes, but is not limited to, listening to their students. I also discuss how my grandmother influenced and inspired me to become an educator. Additionally, I explore how I believe a student’s success should be measured with an individual comparison of the student’s progress of understanding and learning throughout the school year. I also talk about how my Christian beliefs and faith have influenced my teaching philosophy. In addition, I discuses why I believe technology is important to teaching, which is primarily because it makes teaching and learning more efficient for all those involved in the process. In the final paragraphs of this paper I explain my personal learning goals, which include how to gain a better understanding of how technology impacts students and teachers inside of the classroom. Additionally, in this paper I discuss what educational technology I want to learn more about and how obtaining a Master of Arts in Education: Digital Teaching and Learning will give me more education and insight to be an effective teacher in the 21st century.
