The Learning Commons Model: Supporting the Needs of All Student
This binder contains a written report that examines articles that detail the process of media centers transitioning to a learning commons model. It seeks to explain to stakeholders what a learning commons is and the rationale for making this transition. In addition, resources that help guide the process are explored and applied to planning a transition to the learning commons model at the Georgia Academy for the Blind, which serves students with disabilities. The plan revolves around the idea of student-centered learning and how this can be achieved for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Ultimately, the support of student learning helps the Georgia Academy for the Blind achieve its mission to prepare students for college and careers after graduation.
A presentation created using Book Creator is also contained. It is designed to explain to stakeholders what a learning commons is, how it can support student learning, and how the Georgia Academy for the Blind can transition to this model.
