BILINGUALISM
It is not easy to define the concept of bilingualism. In the first place, with bilingualism variables of a geographical, historical, linguistic, sociological, political, psychological and pedagogical nature intermingle (geographical and historical situation of the linguistic community, applied policies, cultural identity of its members, teaching models, level of competence, educational needs, etc.). Secondly, when we speak of bilingualism we can refer to an individual situation, that is, to the relationship of a subject with respect to two languages or to the social group that relates using or not using different languages. On the other hand, bilingual can be called the person who perfectly masters two or more languages, the emigrant who communicates in a language other than their own (regardless of their level) or the student who takes a course in two languages. It should be noted that, over time, other terms have been used as synonyms: diglossia, biculturalism, multilingualism, which have different meaning
