This summer our take-home pet from school was a pair of crayfish. Since I was not exactly sure how to care for these little beasts, I gathered lots of information from the Internet about caring for crayfish.

In early August we were a little surprised to find an egg bundle under the female crayfish! I, for one, was very happy to take them back to school before the eggs hatched. The teacher was very excited because the hatching process will be great fun for her class to watch.

Update: The baby crayfish hatched in the classroom. Wow, those little tiny crayfish can really move! There we so many that other classrooms will now have crayfish too!
